Recollect Ancestral Memories

Yes, I've written about this plant several times over the past year, including how to decorate with her in my most recent post, and here I am again featuring Rosemary as our second December medicine card. (The new moon falls at the very end of December, so we actually have two this month). I'm planning to bring her into my Plant Spirit Healing Team this winter, so this is a way for me to honor her abilities and wisdom. As I've mentioned before, she felt a little neglected this past spring, so this is another effort to make up for my oversight.

Aside from the huge and much happier Rosemary bush still thriving in my backyard garden box, here is her "little brother,"also looking healthier and surrounded by his now wintering planter mate, Oregano. Both sit compatibly outside my front door. Come spring, he'll be surrounded by more colorful flowers.

As a plant medicine, Rosemary has long been recommended by herbalists to help maintain a focused mind and clear memory.

Hamlet by William Shakespeare

One example of such an association goes back a few centuries when this herb was cited in one of the most famous plays in English history, thanks to William Shakespeare.

Along with other herbs and supplements, it’s beneficial to anyone, from school children to seniors, who want support for overall brain health.

Rosemary also has a folk reputation for increasing good luck, protection and prosperity, so planting some outside the entrances to your home is a wise gardening practice.

Referring to the oracle deck's guidebook, focusing on Rosemary "signifies past feelings and emotions are resurfacing from deep within; you may find yourself remembering ancestral memory that resides within your DNA." Notice the faint suggestion of an ancient one depicted on the card as well.

I invite you to do a very brief reflection seeking the aid of Rosemary to see if you are given insights that would emphasize this reinforced connection of past to present. You might begin with drinking a cup of Rosemary tea. I have this herb in teabag form, but it's also easy to prepare it with sprigs from the fresh plant (see video below). Inhaling a drop of Rosemary essential oil would work as another option. If neither are available to you, then just close your eyes in a quiet, safe place and visualize the plant in whatever form works for you.

Connect with Rosemary from your heart space for about 30 seconds and be open to any ancestral guidance or inspiration that may surface.

Express your gratitude for the plant's assistance and slowly open your eyes back to the reality of the room. Sip more tea or water and maybe take a few minutes to jot down any thoughts or advice that came to you.

What better way to conclude 2024 by connecting to the wisdom of your ancestors to help affirm personal goals for the new year to come! As the guidebook's author Adriana Ayales suggests, "Call upon Rosemary as a guiding light to see beyond the veil of {any} confusion, and stay committed to the vision that moves you."

Here's a short, 2 minute video that includes a few more details about the health benefits of this herb along with easy instructions on how to infuse and enjoy it as a tea.

As always, thanks for letting me share my thoughts and journey with you. I welcome your input, so if you want to submit a comment, scroll down to the bottom of this post. If you are interested in booking a personal session, you can do this here:
